Submitted by CE Committee (Ray Cuthbert, Chair)
We hope you all had a wonderful summer and had time to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends! As the summer draws to a close, and children are back to school, the work of the Christian Education (CE) Committee starts anew. As always at this time of year, the CE Committee put its energies towards planning for the start of another Church School year.
Church School registration was held on September 13th, but it’s never to late to register, so if you missed it, you can always register your child at one of the classes which are held just after the Learning with Children part of the service. Our curriculum this year will once again be The Whole People of God and the theme for our first Unit is Come Join the Circle. A circle is a symbol for God and for God’s unending love. If you are interested in becoming a teacher or helper in the Church School and/or Nursery/crib room, please contact Cathy Seaborn at This email address is being protected from spambots. Keep your eyes open for announcements concerning the Church School Open House in October. You can meet children and teachers from the school and get an idea of what goes on in the school.
This fall, one area we would like to focus on is creating a Youth Group. If you are interested in being part of the group or leading it, we would love to hear from you.
One event to mark in your calendar is the ever popular Babies and Friends Luncheon that will be held on November 29th. It is a nice chance for families with very young children to meet, do a craft or two, and enjoy a light lunch.
Also, be sure to read the article in the Uniter from the 96th Ottawa Scout Group – the group runs a great program and Woodroffe United Church has been the sponsor of the 96th since 1963.
