1
THE ROAD TO JOY is not hard to find
For it is there in each one’s mind.
It takes a smile to bring it out
Which you can do without a doubt,
And when you shine your smile at me
A road to joy you’ll make for me.
2
THE ROAD TO JOY is in the air
So you can find it anywhere.
When helping those you find in need
The road for you is near indeed,
So do your best to help the rest
Your road to joy will pass the test.
3
THE ROAD TO JOY really has no name
And for everyone it’s not the same,
For some may sing to show their joy
While others will good deeds employ,
But you can find it with the smile
You give to others all the while.
4 Help Others
THE ROAD TO JOY may not seem clear
Although in truth it’s always near.
For joy is in the way we live
In what we each to others give,
For giving brings it’s own reward
Of inward joy and hope restored.
5
THE ROAD TO JOY is ours to choose
We’ve much to gain and naught to lose.
If you let your smile change into laughter
You’ll find the joy that you are after.
Life is only what you make it
So pick your road and then just take it.
6
THE ROAD TO JOY is ours to know
If it to others we will show,
For joy that’s shared is doubly good
And makes our life gleam as it should.
So smile and sing and laugh and shout
For that’s what joy is all about.
7
THE ROAD TO JOY is a two way street
So smile at all of those you meet,
And hopefully they will smile at you,
It is the friendly thing to do.
Smiles may soon turn into laughter
And that’s what joy is really after.
8
THE ROAD TO JOY is a platitude
For it’s nothing but your attitude
And you can pick a different street . . . .
Just frown at everyone you meet.
But if your smile you should employ
You’ll find you’re on the road to joy.
9
THE ROAD TO JOY is not a toll
So down it you can freely roll,
But you should oil the wheels of life
And banish fear and grief and strife.
So smile out loud so all can see
And that’s the way your life will be.
THE JOURNEY
THE ROAD TO JOY is a road to share
It can start with you and go anywhere.
Just share your joy with those you meet,
You’ll find you’re both on happy street.
Joy that’s shared just seems to grow,
Help other ones your joy to know.
11
THE ROAD TO JOY eludes a few
Who know not what they have to do.
You can help, and for a start
Let a smile and a handshake be your part.
You’ll find that once you break the ice
They’ll be like you . . . . really nice.
12
THE ROAD TO JOY must be strong
For it should last our whole life long.
It is made of many a thing
That each of us can freely bring.
There’s smile and laughter and good deeds
That each can bring and they’re the seeds.
13
THE ROAD TO JOY is yours to take
If in your life you joy will make
Each one has within their heart
The seeds of joy which they can start,
And if they nurture them each day
The road to joy will be their way.
14 Hear
Ye . . .
THE ROAD TO JOY doesn’t have to be straight
If it leads to joy and misses hate.
It may have its ups and downs,
Make sure that smiles outnumber frowns.
Your life unfolds much as you make it
So look for joy and then just take it.
15 THOUGHTFUL
THE ROAD TO JOY is paved with smiles
And good deeds and laughter for many miles.
If you along this road would go
You know the things you have to show.
Just try a smile, break out in laughter
And good deeds will surely follow after.
16
THE ROAD TO JOY is one most folks know
And there’s room for all who care to go.
So join your friends in joyful song
And invite each one to come along.
Where music is, the heart is blest,
Just sing along with all the rest.
17
THE ROAD TO JOY can start with you
It’s paved with the things you say and do.
The base is made with the help you give
To all of those with whom you live.
Smiles and laughter are the binding ties
To seal your road where’er it lies.
18
THE ROAD TO JOY is free to all
Of those who on their God will call,
He knows their joys and all their woes
And gives them strength to wrong oppose.
You can live a life of joy
If you, your God sent strength employ.
