The purpose of the Stewardship Committee is to develop plans and initiatives to meet the financial needs of Woodroffe United Church and to determine the overall need within the Church for a volunteer ministry to meet the tasks, needs and visions of the Church.
The Stewardship Committee consists of up to ten members who are representative of the life and work of the Congregation. Ex officio members of the Committee are: the Chair of Administration & Finance, the Treasurer, the Chair of Mission and Service, the Chair of Outreach and the President of the UCW.
The Stewardship Committee is responsible to the Congregation through Council for:
Providing leadership for and coordination of the activities that encourage members and adherents to offer a ministry of personal service to their Church.
Raising the awareness of the Congregation’s stewardship needs so that its full financial potential may be realized to meet the total financial objectives of the Congregation at local, regional and national levels.
Explaining the financial need and allocation of funds to the Congregation.
Cultivating support for the mission of the church in all its aspects, among all age groups and by all media available.
Working with the Congregation to secure commitment and participation in the mission of the church by the Congregation.
Organizing visitations for stewardship purposes.
Reporting regularly to Council and the Congregation, including preparing an annual report for the Congregation.
Overseeing all fundraising activities of the Congregation.
The duties and activities of the Stewardship Committee include:
Encouraging individuals to provide a ministry of service and financial support to the Church.
Keeping the Congregation advised of opportunities for service and of financial needs in support of the ongoing activities and programs of the church.
Preparing, in consultation with other committees, a yearly stewardship plan for Woodroffe United Church that will identify actions planned by month, to fit within the three year evolving plan.
Analyzing the information obtained from the Stewardship campaign for the use of other Committees.
Carrying out planning studies, analyses and research in order to develop a three year plan that is updated yearly.
Devising procedures and methods for defining, planning for and evaluating Church progress and trends, including the use of periodic Congregational questionnaires.
