Who we are
Welcome
Woodroffe United Church offers you a West-end Ottawa church home within the fellowship of the United Church of Canada. We are a welcoming and caring community which includes an active outreach program, a dedicated pastoral care team and a broad variety of opportunities for worship and spiritual growth.

You are invited to attend worship services and to participate in the life of our church. Our web site will give you a glimpse into our activities and church life, but you can see it all first hand by joining us in worship on Sunday at 10:00 am. Drop by to say, "Hello!" and stay for refreshments and fellowship in the Banquet Hall after the service.

Our vision

To be a beacon in the community that serves by welcoming, caring, and offering fellowship and Christian spiritual growth

Our call

Welcoming – Connecting – Caring – Learning

Our ministry focus

Relationship / Fellowship
Woodroffe offers fellowship and community based on a vision that reflects the way of Jesus the Christ.

Woodroffe is a community that offers Sunday services with inspiring messages and music.  All are welcome!  After the service we have a coffee, tea and juice where we can mingle and talk with each other. Developing relationships and caring for each other is important. For those who may not be able to come to our services, we live stream them, so they can participate and feel part of the family.  We also send out bi-weekly letters and issue a newsletter, called the WUC Uniter, three times a year.

We hold a number of activities during the year such as the strawberry social, lunches, dinners, and a number of fundraisers where we get together and have fun!  One of the biggest events we have during the year is our Bazaar that is held in October!  Volunteers from within and outside Woodroffe look forward to the bazaar every year!
Pastoral Care
Pastoral care is everyone’s responsibility. As we go through life’s journey, we all need a community of people surrounding us, providing care and support.

But sometimes, situations require a little more expertise and training and that is where our pastoral care team might come into play. Woodroffe has a dedicated and specially trained team of lay people who assist the clergy in the pastoral care of the congregation in times of crisis or particular need such as bereavement, job stress or loss, illness, difficult family decisions or difficulties, substance abuse, emotional instability, abusive relationships, grief, distress, phobias, burnout, separation or divorce, peer pressures or simply a need for confidential conversation.
Outreach /Serving others / Social justice
Reaching out to our local community with compassion and assistance has been an integral part Woodroffe for over 75 years. We care for our local community by supporting:

  • local food banks
  • the wellbeing of seniors our area
  • working with organizations to purchase school supplies
  • programs for young people
  • others at Christmas
  • and much more.

Simply put, we help.
